UPA Innovation Grant Guidelines
- Proposals should support the goals of the UPA Innovation Grant Program which are to promote growth in Ultimate and Ultimate Spirit, to create links between the UPA and local organizers, to serve members' needs and to create documentation that will inspire others to further innovation and excellence.
- The grant program does NOT fund tournaments and leagues. If you are organizing a tournament or league, you can find assistance through the sanctioning program or contact the Director of Youth Development with questions about youth programs.
- UPA Officials are not eligible for grants.
- Applicants may request a grant of up to $1,500.00 U.S. dollars. Other materials and discs are not awarded through this program.
- Ideas must be inventive and original.
- In support of the work that our players conduct outside of the U.S., the UPA will fund international projects that meet the following criteria.
- They must be organized, planned and conducted by U.S. citizens, players and/or organizers.
- Funding will only be issued in U.S. dollars.
- Awards will only be shipped within the U.S.
- They must meet all other guideline expectations including reports and updates for UPA publications.
Contact WFDF with inquiries regarding all other international projects.- Applications are due by midnight PST on the day of the deadline.
- If you win a grant, you will:
- write an article about your completed project for possible publication in the UPA magazine and
- send pictures, newspaper articles, programs and other documents for the grants archive.
Application Tips
- Check your grammar and spelling.
- Answer questions clearly and concisely, but don't sacrifice clarity.
- Sell your project; be enthusiastic and precise.
- Complete the application in full to the best of your ability.
- The UPA would rather not fund tangible assets (i.e. computer hardware) that will revert to the private property of the owner after the project is complete. This is especially true, when those assets can be obtained with other funding sources. Instead, the committee favors allocating funds towards administrative costs, logistics, printed materials (adverting, packets), or items that remain with the program (e.g. equipment).
