2006 WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships
November 11-18, 2006

IMPORTANT REMINDER:

ALL US TEAMS WISHING TO ATTEND ARE REMINDED THAT THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS April 30th. Teams without an "official" bid, but who are serious in their interest to obtain a wait list slot, MUST register as a Waitlist team prior to the April deadline.


The UPA strongly endorses the participation of US teams and players in international competition. 

As stated in Article V of the UPA International policy, “the general goal of the UPA for international competition is to send the best possible representatives as US teams and players.  This means talented players who abide by the Spirit of the Game and who are ideal ambassadors of US Ultimate and the UPA.”

Initial US Team Allocations

WFDF has released the initial team allocations for the 2006 World Ultimate Club Championships in Perth, Australia. On behalf of US teams, the UPA has accepted all slots allocated and will nominate teams based on the criteria set forth below. Please note that WFDF expects in some divisions that not all initial bids will be filled and bids will be re-allocated if/when they become available.

Information regarding the official team registration from WUCC 2006 will be communicated by the UPA to eligible teams as soon as it becomes available.

World Ultimate Club Championships – US Teams allocations


Selection Process
A. U.S. teams in the Open, Women’s, Mixed, and Masters divisions will be invited based on their order of finish at the UPA Club Championships the previous year and the number of invitations received from WFDF.
B. When selecting the qualifying teams, non-U.S. teams will be skipped over and the next highest-placing U.S. team will be selected.  Non-U.S. teams who compete at the UPA Championships may receive invitations from their own country; as per WFDF they are not eligible to be invited by the UPA. 
C. If a team declines a bid, the next highest-placing team in their division will be invited.


Selection Criteria (when additional invitations become available for US teams)
A.
 UPA Club Championship’s attendees, in order of finish, subject to minimum standard of sportsmanlike play, as determined by the committee.
B. Defending WFDF champions.
C. Wait list of teams who have, in writing, expressed interest in attending the Championships.  These teams will be ranked in order, based on their finish in their respective Regional Championships.

2006 WUCC eligibility rules
The WFDF Ultimate Committee has released the Club Team Eligibility Rules which are to be used for teams wishing to play in the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships 2006 in Perth. (Note: The UPA requested and has received an exception to these eligibility rules. US teams will be held to the following team eligibility requirements instead of Sections 1.2 and 1.3 of the WFDF Roster Eligibility Rules.  All other sections of the WFDF rules still apply.)

UPA/US Team Eligibility Requirements
(These rules replace Sections 1.2 and 1.3 of the WFDF Roster Eligibility Rules.)

A.
  A US team wishing to participate in the WUCC must meet one of the following two roster definitions:

Club Team Definition A:
1) A team’s players must be on that team’s roster for the UPA Club Series immediately preceding or the year of the WUCC.
2) A team may add three (3) additional players to its roster before the final team roster is due to the UPA. These players are not subject to the roster limits set forth in 1. (above).

Club Team Definition B:
1) 50% of a team’s players must be on that team’s roster for the UPA Club Series in the year preceding or the year of the WUCC.
2) At least 50% of the players on a team's roster must reside in the UPA Club section in which the qualifying team competed in the UPA Club Series.
3) At least 75% of the players on a team's roster must reside in the UPA Club region in which the qualifying team competed in the UPA Club Series.
5)  No more than 5 players may reside outside the UPA Club region in which the qualifying team competed in the UPA Club Series.
5) "Residence" is defined as follows:
a)  Location where person is living for the majority of September and October, AND
b) Location where person is living for the majority of either the 3 months prior to Sept 1 or immediately following Oct 31.
c) Sectional and Regional boundaries are available on the UPA website.

B. If a UPA member plays in WUCC with a US team and does not meet any of the requirements outlined in Eligibility Requirements Section A, that member is barred from participating in the UPA Championhip Series following that year's WUCC.

C. A player may participate in only one division at WUCC.

D.
Players must be UPA members at the time the WUCC takes place.

Suspension of Eligibility

As per Article X-Discipline in the UPA Bylaws, participating players and/or teams may be suspended from participating in an international competition for repeated and deliberate injurious behavior or for repeated and deliberate disregard for the Rules of Ultimate. Such suspensions shall be carried out in accordance with the disciplinary policies established from time to time by the Board of Directors, and all such actions shall be reviewed by the Board. No such action by the Board shall be taken until the player or team involved has been informed of the pending charges and has been given an opportunity to present a defense to the Board. The Board may delegate is disciplinary authority to a standing or temporary Disciplinary Committee of the Board.
